Whelpmate™ was conceptualised by a dog breeder, Grant Kemlo, who was frustrated by the poor design and durability of other whelping boxes on the market.
Sensing an opportunity, Grant contacted his mate and now-business partner Geoff Madgwick, to help turn the visualisation into a working concept. With his material knowledge and engineering background, a combination of designs were tested to ensure only the best would make it to market.
Grant and Geoff listed all the problems they found with the current generation of whelping boxes. They agreed that they would only take their product to market if they could solve every single issue they found.
